Dorothy Postrel

Dottie playing with Ellyn Greenblatt and Nicole Lombardi, circa 1988

A few of you who knew her have asked me to post audio of Aunt Dottie. This audio is 20 minutes of vintage Dot. She addresses it to me, so it is a bit personal, but not so much that any of you can’t enjoy it.

During the 1990′s I asked Dottie to record some of the songs and stories, which we loved so much, on tape using the boom box we had bought her. She expressed doubt that she could just talk into a machine without someone to actually speak with so I told her to make believe I was there and she was speaking to me. So began a dialogue……it is clipped in places because she did it over a period of weeks. In the beginning, her friend, Sarah Sandroff, joins her in singing a song (Rozhinkes mit Mandlen). (Sarah was the voice coach for Zero Mostel when he performed in Fiddler on the Roof.) Unfortunately the tape ends when Dot taped an opera over the last part of it.
